The IMM excels in a full range of pharmacy disciplines. It consists of such departments as synthetic medicinal chemistry, natural medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutical analysis, biosynthesis of natural products, pharmaceutical screening, polymorphic drugs, drug delivery system, drug metabolism, new drug research and development, and safety evaluation, and is highly recognized for its research capabilities. In recent years, the IMM has continued to push research into new dimensions on the strength of its innovation platforms. It now boasts the State Key Laboratory of Bioactive Substance and Function of Natural Medicines, the National Research Center for Analysis of Drugs and Metabolites, the National Engineering Research Center for Development of New Drugs, the Comprehensive Innovation Platform for the Major New Drug Development Program, the Demonstration Center for Training Innovative Professionals under the Ministry of Science and Technology, seven provincial and ministerial key laboratories, and five key CAMS & PUMC laboratories and centers. Through six wholly or partially owned enterprises, the IMM has established a complete ecosystem of production, education, research and application.
