The IMM provides high-quality education for students who pursue advanced degrees in pharmacy. Based on PUMC’s vision for a small yet great college in highly specialized fields and with the aim of cultivating students who will excel in their chosen profession, the IMM has constantly optimized teaching management, and is hailed as a cradle for high-caliber pharmacists and other professionals in related fields.
Pharmacy at the IMM, which is recognized as a national key discipline, includes multiple sub-disciplines that are related to the different aspects of new drug research. It was rated A+ in the fourth round of discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education in 2016, and was included in the list of “world-class disciplines” in 2017.
STRONG FACULTY AND WELL-DESIGNED PROGRAMS
By August 2021, the IMM had graduated 1,026 doctoral students and 1,044 master’s students. Currently, over 530 students are pursuing a postgraduate degree here. The IMM also offers in-service continuing education programs, and degree programs for applicants with an equivalent educational level. Apart from these, it has hosted training courses on new techniques and methods for more than 100 institutions across China.
The IMM is authorized to grant the following degrees:
Academic doctoral or master's degrees in medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutical analysis, pharmacognosy, microbial and biochemical pharmacy, pharmaceutics, and clinical pharmacy;
Professional master's degree in pharmacy.
By the end of August 2021, the IMM had 71 doctoral supervisors and 74 master’s supervisors.
ELITE EDUCATION FOR TALENTS
The IMM started to offer PUMC’s first postgraduate pharmacy courses in 1981. In nearly 60 years, it has run 56 courses. Currently, the IMM is mainly responsible for PUMC’s pharmacy theory courses, including 45 courses at postgraduate level.
The IMM's alumni are spread across the world. Most of them are excellent researchers, educators and professionals in the field of pharmacy, while some have emerged as renowned entrepreneurs and government officials.
KNOWLEDGE DISSEMINATION AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES
In addition to its diverse postgraduate programs, the IMM places a high value on carrying forward China’s excellent culture, promoting the knowledge and understanding of pharmacy, and serving the needs of the public. Since the early 1980s, the IMM has offered short-term training sessions for professionals in the field of pharmacy, playing a great role in spreading new techniques and methods and fostering excellence in the profession. The IMM has traditionally accorded importance to its trainee and intern programs, which had a total of 1,207 participants from 1981 to the end of August of 2021.
