Research Interests
The research group headed by Guo Ying has long been engaged in antivirals development, and has discovered several series of small molecule synthetic compounds, natural products and peptides against influenza virus and HIV-1 virus. The team has successfully applied the concept of drug repositioning to antiviral drugs discovery since 2013. Based on their discovery, 29 patents have been applied for, 11 of which have been licensed, and more than 60 papers have been published.
In 2019, the team entered the field of artificial intelligence research for novel drug discovery, focusing on the use of machine learning methods to extract omics datasets to disclose substances that are able to interfere with the disease process in multiple links. With this strategy, the team has successfully discovered anti-influenza virus active substances that act on multi-host factors. They also attempt to extend this strategy to drug discovery for common complex diseases.
