In order to implement the spirit of national science and technology innovation conference, and focus on building business-oriented, market-oriented innovative drug R&D system. On March 27, 2013, Institutes of Pharmaceutical Science (IPS) and Institute of Materia Medica (IMM) of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences organized the conference "Paving an avenue for innovative drug R&D in China" at Beijing.
The vice-president of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Zhan Qimin hosted the meeting. Sang Guowei academician, the chief master of National Key New Drug Creation Special Technical, Liu Qian, the Deputy Health Minister, and Zeng Yixin academician, the principal of Peking Union Medical College have attended and spoke at the meeting.
Dr. Jiang Jiandong, the director of IPS and IMM gave a special talk about "Paving an avenue for innovative drug R&D in China". The experts conducted a lively discussion.
Pharmaceutical industry is an important strategic industry related to the national health, social stability and economic development. In addition, it also embodied a national comprehensive strength of science and technology innovation. National Science and Technology Innovation Conference and 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly mentioned the innovation-driven development strategy. In the new situation, it is urgent for the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences to highlight the advantage, grasp the opportunity, and construct the technological innovation system with Chinese characteristics. Combined with its own characteristics and advantages, IPR actively explored the "Paving an avenue for innovative drug R&D in China". Through building R&D research base, IPR wish to breakthrough institutional barriers, integrate the scientific advantages and technological advantages of enterprise, and actively create the innovation system, including the basic and applied research, drug development and industrialization.
