Research Interests
The group led by Dai Jungui focuses on biosynthesis of medicinal natural products and synthetic biology. Following the academic idea of "knowing about nature, learning from nature, and innovating from nature", they carry out research on biosynthesis, synthetic biology and molecular innovation of important rare medicinal natural products to solve the two prominent problems restricting drug discovery, namely, the lack of medicine sources and the insufficient druggability. On the one hand, through the combination of secondary metabonomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, molecular biochemical technology, isotope tracing and other technologies, they have elucidated the biosynthetic pathway of natural drugs and reconstructed the biosynthetic pathway. On the other hand, this research can achieve molecular designability and innovation to find the source and diversify the structure of natural drugs in drug discovery. It also provides theoretical and technical support for new drug creation.
