Research Interests
Carbohydrates play important roles in a variety of biological processes related to human health and diseases. As an interdisciplinary subject, chemical glycobiology employs chemical tools to dissect and manipulate the function of carbohydrate-based active substances. The research group led by Geng Yiqun is interested in utilizing chemical tools such as carbohydrate chemistry, chemical protein modification, metabolomics and chemical proteomics to study glycobioloy, in order to provide new targets and lead compounds for diagnosing and treating human diseases. Currently the group is focusing on:
1. Target identification of sugar metabolites and chemical intervention of sugar metabolite sensing and signaling.
2. Sugar metabolism reprogramming during the occurrence and progression of human disease.
3. Manipulation and elucidation of metabolite-derived protein modification.
